Valley Championships - You don't need to qualify for the Valley Championships, but you need to have competed in at least one North Zone race to attend. We do need to register for this race and pay an entry fee, and this is the qualifying race for the Provincials. In the past, the top 20 individuals (overall) qualify as well as the top 3 teams in both the Junior and Senior category.
October 2021 Update: BC School Sports has changed the berthing process for Provincials. According to the race commissioner for the Interior, "they looked at the number of competitors and teams that participated in our last Valley Championships, and based the berthing for provincials on that. The end result is that berthing will now be as follows:
- Sr. Girls get 1 team and 7 individuals
- Jr. Girls get 4 teams and 11 individuals
- Sr. Boys get 2 teams and 8 individuals
- Jr. Boys get 3 teams and 9 individuals"
It is also important to know if you are willing to attend Provincials before you run at Valleys because registration for the Provincials happens immediately following the race. (If a runner qualifies and declines, the next fastest runner can attend.) The registration fee is usually $15 with no refunds.
