It was great to have another Friday 5k last week, and due to their popularity, we'll continue with our Monday runs as well. I am glad that others are finding that running is a fun addition to our Back to School routines.
This week marks the start of the race season and our first race is in Kalamalka Lake Park on Wednesday.
Students should have picked up their permission forms last week, and they need to be handed in by Tuesday at the latest. I'll be checking in with students on Monday to see who plans to attend our first race.
Wednesday @ Kalamalka Lake Park
Our plan is to leave the school at 12:45pm for Vernon, and we should be back to RSS at 7:30pm. Students should check in with their afternoon class for any homework, and then head down to the common area at 12:30 to get uniforms, to get changed into running gear, and to prepare for our road trip.
In addition to your running gear, be prepared for rain or shine and have some layers to adjust to the temperature. Don't forget to bring water and snacks for before and after the race. On the way home, we can make a dinner stop if students want.
Regarding our travel, if you are parent who can help out with the driving, I'd like to chat with you about your availability, the required paperwork, and how we compensate parents for driving (your gas is paid for).
