If you didn't go to the OVSAA website, here are some course details:
Telemark is at an elevation 1000m, and as such can be pretty chilly at this time of year. We’ll run the race there even in shallow snow, so please be prepared for whatever the weather gods might throw at us. In the event of a BIG snowfall the race will be moved to Mission Creek Park instead ... please stay tuned for updates if things are looking nasty.
Bathroom facilities are limited ... though there are plenty of strategically placed trees (ie. Do your best to finish your business in Westbank before climbing the hill). Spikes are suitable for this course but not recommended … especially if the ground is frozen. The course can be wet so please consider a change of warm, dry clothing and extra shoes.
The start will be in the stadium area in front of the chalet and proceed straight ahead towards the “Telemark” trail. The course will climb very slightly as it follows the Fern Creek trail to the first cutoff, then a series of short uphill and level stretches as it joins part of Squirrel Trail followed by the aptly named Roller Coaster trail to the top of the course. Each of the little hills are around 3m tall for a total elevation gain on the order of 25m to the top of the course. From here it will come down gently along Fern Creek, rejoin Squirrel, and back towards the Stadium. This 2.2km loop will be repeated before funneling athletes into the Stadium for the finish for a distance total of approximately 4.5 km.
Boys Course Description:
All Boys will proceed the same way as the girls, doing three loops of the basic course, but Junior Boys will omit the Roller Coaster portion of the loop for their third loop, while Senior Boys will complete 3 full loops of the course before finishing.
